Higher Education
Bring your undergraduate and taught master’s students for a free visit.
We regularly welcome visiting student groups from across the UK, from courses focusing on fashion, design, textile technology, food technology, sustainability, business management, corporate social responsibility, employee relations and many more.
Flexible Formats
We offer student sessions for groups of between 10 and 50 students and can repeat sessions if your cohort needs to be split into smaller groups so that everyone can be accommodated for a great student experience.
The format of your group’s visit can be tailored to meet your course requirements, with options including:
- lectures delivered by our archivists, featuring lots of archive sources
- Q&A sessions
- subject-focused collection handling sessions
- group challenges (you set some relevant questions, we provide access to a set of sources and students work together to explore the archive material)
- self-led discovery within our exhibition
Too far away to visit?
No problem! We can provide a lecture via your institution’s Zoom or Teams facility, focusing on the relevant subject area and featuring lots of fantastic archive sources, images and film footage.
Digital archive packs can also be supplied, with the most relevant sources for your course pulled together so it’s easy for your students to work with primary source material wherever they are.
Individual Research
The archive collection, and guidance from our archivists, is available to students from all institutions as a primary research resource, whether it’s to support an essay, dissertation, thesis or group project. Just guide your students to our Collections pages to find out more.
We’ve worked with a range of academics to support their own ongoing research interests – please just get in touch to speak to one of the archivists about how our collection may be relevant for you.
